Flowering Bulbs

tulipsSpring just wouldn't be spring without the beautiful blooms of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and other spring flowering bulbs.

There are many bulbs and bulb-like flowers that are planted in the spring, such as lilies and gladiolas, but when flowering bulbs are mentioned most people think of the fall planted, spring flowering bulbs.

To lessen the appearance of fading foliage, interplant bulbs with ground cover or among perennials that will start to appear as the bulb foliage is starting to fade away.

As a general rule when planting bulbs choose a sunny, well drained spot. Most bulbs will rot if planted in a spot that is not well drained.

Lilies are beautiful flowers, with many varieties available. If you have never planted lilies, you should really give them a try.
