Roses Blooming in November!
It is hard to believe how warm the weather still is. Thursday is Thanksgiving and I still have roses blooming!
This rose is an old garden rose, called climbing Cramoisi Superieur. It is a china rose, which are supposed to be especially well suited to the southern climate. It has a wonderful fragrance and is very disease resistant.
I have had this rose for two years and it has grown from about 18 inches to well over eight feet tall in those two years. This is the first old garden rose that I have planted and I can tell you that this rose is much easier to take care of than the hybrid teas I have had experience with in the past.
There are two other roses in my yard that were growing here when I bought the house. Both of them have been covered with blackspot while on this rose blackspot is almost non-existent. I think one of my projects for the spring will be to find some old garden roses to replace those two.
